Anastasia at the The Seeing Stars®: Symbol Imagery for Phonological and Orthographic Processing in Reading and Spelling training.

This program helps struggling readers develop the sensory-cognitive function of symbol imagery. In other words, it helps struggling readers to create mental representations for sounds and letters in words for improved word recognition, contextual fluency, encoding (spelling), and phonemic awareness skills . Anastasia took this workshop to supplement her previous  Lindamood Phoneme Sequencing® (LiPS) training which emphasizes phonemic awareness (Bell, 2013).

One benefit of the Seeing Stars® program is that it incorporates sight words and multisyllabic words very early on.  In addition, the program integrates contextual reading which allows the struggling reader to integrate and apply these skills to functional reading tasks.
